Job Title: Program Coordinator
Hours: 15-17 hours a week, with opportunity for more hours in the summer. This position includes weekend and evening hours.
Pay Rate: starting at $16.50 /hr
Summary:
The program coordinator is responsible for planning, conducting and facilitating programs for patrons of all ages. The program coordinator will additionally provide administrative support in procuring funding and marketing for programs. The staff filling this position must exercise judgment and initiative in dealing with a range of complex tasks. Secondary tasks of the program coordinator include circulation desk duties.
Duties:
- Plan, manage, and conduct programs that facilitates the libraries mission to promote literacy, lifetime learning, and community engagement to the residents of the Village of Owego and the surrounding area.
- Make outreach efforts to ensure programs meet the current needs of our community
- Facilitate positive relations between the program team, the public, the media, the Board of Trustees, library staff, and all other involved parties.
- The library program coordinator will also be expected to perform the following general duties that are shared by all library employees:
- Performs all circulation duties using computerized system
- Performs all opening and closing procedures
- Daily duties: assisting the public in use of the library and it’s services, shelving library materials and items, performs any duties necessary for the function of the library and duties assigned by executive director.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or the equivalent.
- Library experience recommended but not required.
- Possess excellent organization, and communication skills.
- Present a positive image of the library in attitude, communications, and appearance while performing duties.
- Provide courteous, pleasant, and helpful interactions with a diverse population of patrons, board members, associates, and management.
- Possess the flexibility to deal with unexpected tasks, last minute changes, and patron needs simultaneously with a professional and positive attitude.
- Qualities such as creativity, open-mindedness, and a positive energy.
- Strong problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent oral and written communications skills.
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team, and a commitment to team work, as well as the ability to take direction when required.
- Experience with marketing and strong social media skills is an asset.
Compensation Package:
- This is a part time hourly position with a starting wage of $16.50. Following a probation period, the wage rate will be revisited following a performance review.
- This position comes with paid sick and vacation leave time.
- This position comes with paid holiday leave.
