September 2026 Director’s Report
Grants/ Funding: Village 2026 Reimbursement Letter was submitted 8/26/26. The Out Reach Mini Grant Adventure Backpack project has been delayed, Waterman is hoping we can get materials ready to go by the winter. I have a little money left over from our Summer Reading funds, I am planning to purchase some more prizes that we can utilize next year.
Building: On 8/26/26, Postler and Jaekle put in the new part. While this was happening, it set off the fire trouble alarm which caused some confusion between us and the alarm company. For future reference whenever the power to the big HVAC unit gets turned off it will set the fire trouble alarm off. On 8/26/26 ICR Power Co. came to view our electrical outlet/tower problem and give us a quote. The quote has come up as above $1,000 so per our financial policy I will have to get two more quotes. Currently working on that. 9/2/26 Martin’s Heating and Plumbing came to check on the pumps. There is nothing wrong with the pumps but the dehumidifier itself is leaking/broken, the hose from the dehumidifier to the pump is also damaged. They will have to be replaced. I am looking into options for this, right now it looks like it will be between $250 to $400 for a new Dehumidifier. 9/10/26 We came in to find the alarm panel beeping, with a service light on. I called the United Alarm and the battery in the back-door sensor needed to be replaced. It needed a CR 2 battery so I went out to find one and then replaced the battery. At the end of the day 9/10/26 I noticed that the east side split unit was giving and error message. The unit was not turning on, so I contact Postler and Jaekle on 9/11/26, they will be out on 9/14/26 to check on the unit. Currently, they suspect there was a power blip that may have caused the issue.
Programs: Summer Reading final report was submitted 9/4/26. Summer Reading Challenge Registration: 129 total registrations, 82 children, 5 teens, 42 adults. Programs: 48 programs, 564 total attendance. I was contacted by Cornell Cooperative Extension to host a propagation workshop in October. We were also contacted to host a grant workshop for The ARTS Council of the Southern Finger Lakes for October.
Miscellaneous: We have hired Maddie McClenahan, her first day is 9/15/26. We are hosting the Tioga County Directors Meeting on 9/11/26. The Finger Lakes Annual Meeting will be held Friday 10/16/26 at the Shepard Hills Country Club in Waverly, NY, registration is due 10/2/26. Our SAM renewal is coming up soon. We have seen a huge influx of new families and people registering for library cards which is super exciting to see! I have placed an order for 2026 income tax papers from TFOP, hopefully they will come on time this year!
