April 2026 Director’s Report
Grant Updates: We have received the Community Foundation of Tompkins County 2026 Library Grant for $5,500. I am still working on the 2025 Library Grant Final Report. I submitted the application for the 2026-2027 Out Reach Mini Grant. Working on getting the amendment to scope completed for the NYS Library Construction Grant, this should be submitted sometime in the week of 4/13/26.
Building: Gotten a few comments and questions about the construction project because it’s so obvious right now. Scaffolding is up, holes are being cut, but the project is making great progress!
Programs: Working on scheduling Summer Reading Programming. I had two programs cancelled on me, an adult and kid’s program. Currently, I have 10 kid’s programs scheduled and 5 adult programs scheduled for Summer Reading.
Library Services: The move to Vega, the new catalogue website is on pause. Finger Lakes is reassessing Vega and its ability to fully support the operational needs of FLLS libraries and the service expectations of FLLS patrons.
Miscellaneous: I was able to attend the Finger Lakes Library System 5-year plan Tioga County meeting focus group on March 27th. I also attended the FLLS Summer Reading Meeting on Thursday April 9th at Finger Lakes, we had some good conversations about Summer Reading, and I was able to connect to some organizations offering programming this summer.
