The Coburn Free Library will once again act as a site for the AARP tax program.
The Tioga County AARP Foundation Tax-Aide volunteers, part of the Tax Counseling for the Elderly (TCE) Program, in conjunction with several local sites that generously provide facilities and scheduling services, are pleased to offer assistance with income tax preparation again this year at no cost to eligible individuals, particularly to those 60 and older, from IRS-certified volunteers.
Appointments may be made at the following three locations:
- Tioga Opportunities Inc. / Countryside Community Center 607-687-4222
- Owego Coburn Free Library (new elevator for easier access) 607-687-3520
- Apalachin Library 607-625-3333
(There is some chance we will reopen the Waverly Fire Dept and Newark Valley UCC sites in March, but currently they are unsure that they have enough volunteers and assets to support those sites.)
Due to the ongoing Covid pandemic, this year’s tax preparation process will continue to be one of less contact. There will not be any face-to-face tax preparation. They will be using last year’s “scan while you wait” process on your initial appointment and have you return one week later to sign the finished return and receive a printout.
After you call to schedule the initial appointment there are forms you will need to fill out ahead of time and bring to your initial appointment. You may pick up the forms starting Jan 17 at the 3 sites above or at the Waverly Village offices on Ithaca street.
However, if you have a computer and printer and have signed up for this service, click here for forms to print and complete from your home.
