March 2026 Director’s Report

Grant Updates: FLLS has told us that Community Foundation of Tompkins County have made the decisions on the 2026 Library Grant, but we do not know when notifications are going out. Still working on the 2025 Library Grant Final Report. The application for the 2026-2027 Out Reach Mini Grant is open. I am currently working with the Director of the Waterman Center to get the project all figured out and the application submitted. We received bullet aid from Assemblymen Friend in the amount of $2,500 with no stipulations on how it can be used.

Building: Noticed some water in the basement boiler room, we believe this is due to seepage from the ground we had a lot of rain recently. On February 23^rd the library lost internet, when I arrived to the library in the morning the cable was detached from the pole and was lying on the ground. I was able to get into contact with spectrum and they were able to restore internet around 3:30pm. We remained open and were able to “check” books out the old-fashioned way until internet was restored.  All AARP Tax appointments had to be rescheduled due to the internet outage. We lost internet again February 27^th, there was outages across the area and it was retired around 11:30am.

Programs: The first session of Crafty Club, the adult open crafting club will be held March 28^th! We will be hosting a Seed Share event with Cornell Cooperative Extension of Tioga County March 14th.

Miscellaneous: The Finger Lakes Library System is starting work on their 5-year plan, the Tioga County meeting will be held at the Apalachin Library March 27^th at 10am. This meeting is open to staff, directors and trustees. The FLLS Summer Reading Meeting will be held Thursday April 9^th at Finger Lakes. I will be attending. The Friends book sale will be hosted on March 13^th and March 14^th.
