2026 April Board Meeting Minutes
Meeting of the Board of Trustees of the Coburn Free Library April 20, 2026
Present: L. Williams, President, J. Pritchard, Vice-President, M. Fenn, Treasurer, E. Keough, Secretary,
C. Freitag, Trustee, M. Worzel, Executive Director
Excused: D. Woodburn, Trustee, J. Palladino, OACSD Trustee
Approval of March Minutes: M. Fenn moved the March minutes to be accepted.
C. Freitag seconded. Approved.
Financial Report: Account balances have been reconciled to statements for March. From Bank Statements as of 3/31/2026:
Director Discretionary Fund $ 4,712.61
Regular Checking $ 213,965.80
Endowment Fund $ 942,875.05
HVAC Checking Acct $ 1,344.71
Some decrease in the endowment fund due to the market. Review of profit and loss budget performance indicates we are running close to budget. The first draft of our Income Tax 990 done. The final 990 due on 5/15/26.
Director Report: The Community Foundation of Tompkins County grant was awarded for $5500 which will be used for the Summer Reading Program. The Director is working to complete the amendment to scope for the NYS Library Construction grant. We went from 2 to 4 heat pumps. Roof and hatch work is not included. One need identified from the discussion of Focus Groups for FLLS was for more HR for directors. The move to Vega, the new catalog website is being reassessed.
Old Business: NYSEG intends to perform the power changeover on April 23. The security systems, elevator and network services need to be notified. There was a review of the fundraising project planned for this spring. There was discussion of qr codes, venmo and thank yous. Application for nonprofit prepaid mailing has been submitted.
New Business: Schindler Service contract options were reviewed and discussed and we chose the Plus option. The 2025 Annual Report was reviewed by the Board of Trustees. J. Pritchard made a motion that we accept the report, M. Fenn seconded and all approved.
Discussion of how the Library may participate in 250th anniversary.
