Author visit: Katie Vaz

March 19, 2022 @ 1:00 pm - 2:30 pm

Join us on Saturday, March 19th at 1pm for a visit from Katie Vaz, local author, illustrator, and hand-letterer.  Her presentation will include entertaining messages about self-care, her journey as an author and illustrator, and an opportunity to purchase a signed copy of her books.  As a lead-up to her event, we are hosting a Color Me Joyful contest.  As you may have heard, coloring is a great way to relax, stimulate your brain, and get in touch with your inner child.  Download a copy of this coloring page from Life with Plants:  A Coloring Book.  Send your completed creation to the library (with your name and a contact number).  We will have a display of the artwork in the library and will award prizes to participants.

About Life with Plants: A Coloring Book

Life with Plants is a companion coloring book to her recent illustrated memoir, My Life in Plants, where she told her story through the plants and flowers that have played both leading and supporting roles in her life. Now, readers can continue to enjoy each plant’s impact and bring her journey to life with color! Inside are illustrations of her favorite plants and flowers, including ones that have been instrumental throughout her life, like the homegrown wildflower bouquet wrapped in duct tape that she carried on stage at age three, to the fragrant basil plant that brought her and her kitchen back to life after grief. The artwork for each plant is personal, heartwarming, and charming, and coloring her work will prompt buyers to recall plants of their own that have been instrumental in their life.
